BIDEFORD (SHEBBERTON) GREYHOUND STADIUM

The Devon town of Bideford has had 2 greyhound tracks in the past, the first of which was in nearby Shebberton at 4° 15' W 51° 1' N. The village boasted its own racecourse, which opened in 1922 and closed in 1925, but within 5 years there was a greyhound track as well. The independently run flapping track held its inaugural meeting in September 1927, and held standard races over 475 and 525 yards, distance races over 575 yards and extended races over 650 yards.
